Top 5 Haircare Products for Postpartum Hair Loss in 2025

I swear each month there is a brand coming out with a new haircare product with a lot of promises attached.

Postpartum is also such a weird time for haircare.  Your scalp is oily, your ends are straw.. there's shedding, there's shocking new gray hairs.. it's uncharted territory with some new follicle trauma popping up at every turn.

That said, postpartum is actually a great time to update your haircare "wardrobe."  Just like with clothes... your previous go -to's just might not be working out right now (and you can thank your changing hormones and hair texture for that).

Now, I am admittedly a sucker for trying anything that promises to deliver shinier, softer, and voluminous hair.

For the first two months of 2025 I have done my due diligence and tested some of the new products out there.  I have personally weeded out what actually delivers from what "just makes claims".

Here are my most recent picks for products to add to your haircare routine that you'll actually see results from:

1. goop G.TOX Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo:

Mom's with an oily scalp right now rejoice, this product is for you.  I

f you are like me, every postpartum brings an oily scalp to my normally dry hair.  It literally drives me crazy to be in the shower and feel like my scalp is still oily.

Well this scalp scrub changed everything for me. It's a salt-enriched, whipped-mousse shampoo that removes product buildup-oil, and dirt from your scalp; leaving hair looking healthy and shiny.

It will run you $55 at Nordstrom, Goop, or other retailers but it's well worth the price-tag IMO.

2. Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment:

For those facing dull, lack-luster strands right now- this is my holy grail product!

It's simple to use and simple is what we need right now.  Now, you can use it in place of a conditioner but I choose to still condition and then use this as a finishing step after.

After shampooing, and conditioning- I squeeze you the excess water from my hair best I can and apply the gloss from my mid to ends.  Leave on for a bout a minute and voila shiny mirror glass hair.  I use approximately 1-2 times a week.

Shine is clinically proven to last through 15 washes so you can even stretch the usage out longer which is great because at $64 it's not cheap

3. Baby Blues Hair Vitamin 3-Month Supply:

A hair-vitamin that thickens up your edges and hair-line while minimizing shedding, might sound like they are too good to be true' but in this case they actually aren't.

It's no secret I am obsessed with these little Lilikoi (passion-fruit) gummies (they are DELICIOUS) that have completely transformed the health of my hair.

Not only has my hair continued to grow (after two boys a whole lot of hormones, stress, and heat-styling).

But.... my hair is actually thriving, shinier, and thicker than ever.

These are my non-negotiable vitamins. Two gummies a day. EVERYDAY.  I like that they are gummies because pills can take a toll on your liver.

These also never messed with my milk supply while breastfeeding (they are EBF SAFE), and didn't make me feel gassy or nauseous.

One will run you about $33 but my suggestion is take the deal for 3 bottles and don't delay your hair growth/health journey.

4. Rahua Smoothing Hair Balm:

Flyaways Flyaways Flyaways.  What is up with postpartum hair-regrowth?

Why must it grow straight up?  Why must I as a new mom, already dealing with stuuuuuuuff have to worry about my hair constantly looking like I touched an electrical socket before leaving the house?

Insert the Rahua smoothie hair balm. It's an anti-frizz (or in my case spiky regrowth) nourishing and moisturizing balm that smooths hair.  It's also purse-size so you can touch-up on the go!

Full transparency this isn't a strong hold product but it does soften and sooth course spiky hair and keeps my flyaways at bay.

The scent is luxurious and it makes your hair hair shiny, manageable and smooth--all the things we love!

5. Kerastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Hair Serum:

Over the years this serum has been updated and gotten better and better.  It's one of those products that I have used for years and watched it improve.

It really does what it says and on nights I forget to use it, I regret it.  I love that it extends my blowout so my hair looks soft 2-3-4 days after washing.

Kerastase describes it as a magical overnight nourishing leave-in hair serum that provides 8 hours of nourishment so hair is soft and easy to style in the morning.

Pro-tip- my hair stylist said its totally fine to apply during the day as well to soften hair and reduce frizz.

It's formulated with plant-based proteins and niacinamide. I always use a silk pillowcase to sleep but this serum is also supposed to protect from pillow friction, providing over 84% less am frizz.

It will run you about $62 but I find I only need about 2 a year.

Well, this wraps up my current favorites this year, let us know in the comments some new things you are loving right now.
