Who doesn't love a product that works over-time? I personally LOVE a multi-purpose product, and especially during postpartum when time, $, and energy seem scarce.
As a mom of two and aunt of 4 I've picked up a few tips along the way.
These are my top 3 multi-purpose products this year, enjoy!
Lanolin Nipple Cream:
Let's face it, sore nipples are zero fun. Unfortunately they can occur postpartum for a number of reasons.
- Improper latching (friction + pain)
- Pumping (ouch)
- Thrush (a yeast infection that can c cause red, cracked, itchy nipples and pain)
- Vasospasm (blood vessels that supply blood to the nipple spasm and this causes white, painful nipples).
A mom-friend recommended the Lanolin Nipple cream and said she used it after every feeding she had with her second baby and would even apply it before a shower when her nipples felt sensitive.
Texture-wise its really hydrating and feels like a thicker vaseline.
Well, low and behold a few years later I'm scrolling instagram and see Kylie Jenner sharing how she has this multi-purpose use for Lanolin and uses it on her lips and sometimes other areas of skin for extra hydration and to combat dryness.
"Nipple cream for your lips, it's like the best secret." said Kylie

Well, I'm easily influenced enough so I immediately added a tube to my amazon cart and can say I have been using it every night and am absolutely obsessed with how hydrating it is for my lips.
Margot Robbie, Carrie Coon, Gigi Hadid, Alicia Keys, Kiera Knightley and so many others have also come forward saying this is their secret weapon double duty product.
At around $8 it won't break the bank, a postpartum mom must IMO.
Baby Blues Postpartum Hair Collagen/Vitamin Blend Gummies:
My holy grail hair growth product is no secret. I am obsessed with the Lilikoi (Passion-Fruit postpartum hair vitamins from Baby Blues.
Firstly, they make my hair look and feel incredibly healthy and soft. The way my hair grows so fast on them should also be noted (I have mental debates if I should lower my dose due to the frequency I need hair trims/color appointments).
These magic gummies also deliver some other positive benefits though.
Nails: expect stronger, faster growing nails (within the first week of starting them this is actually what I noticed first). While postpartum is actually a time when all the nutrients feel like they are being sucked out of you, the vitamins actually ensured my nails stayed healthy and strong.
Eyelashes/Brows: If you are one of the lucky few that didn't lose your eyelashes or eyebrow hairs postpartum , well then you are one of the lucky few. With my first son my eyebrows especially completely shed.
I have big eyes and my long lashes were key to doll-like dewey look. Unfortunately postpartum tried to come for them as well.
I noticed when taking the hair supplement gummies with my second son that I didn't shed either area. BIG WIN.
These are a multi-purpose product you will look forward to taking every day. They are incredibly delicious and effective.
Moisture-Wick/Dry Fit Sleepwear:
Ooooh the postpartum night sweats. I hate them so much. I swear with my first I would fully drench myself 3x a night for months. Even at a year postpartum I was doing a nightly change.
Why do we get these awful night sweats? Well at birth our estrogen and progesterone drops so rapidly and the hormonal shift causes our body's temperature regulators to basically stop regulating.
The night sweats being normal, offered me no solace.
Most information on the pm sweating said they should last a couple weeks/months.. but for me this was pretty brutal and lasted longer.
As a new mom, I admittedly lived in loungewear. Pajamas all day is the norm when you have a newborn.
So finding pjs that could do a little double duty and keep me feeling cooler longer were a game-changer.
There are a few brands out there but one I tried was cool-jams which provided: moisture wicking, temperature regulating, and cotton feeling fabric
Soma, is another brand who makes cool-touch lounge-wear their
Cool Nights® line is made with lightweight rayon fibers that stay cool-to-the-touch and keep the fabric from sticking to your body. I found their prints to be a little fresher looking.
While the above postpartum problems are somewhat unavoidable, hopefully the product tips make them a little more bearable for you!
